I worked at Wet Seal as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Casual dress, one Friday a month off and some pretty cool co workers. Pay was decent too. They had sample sales which were a great perk for permanent employees. Super cheap clothes and jewelry and they let you shop during working hours which was cool!

    Cons

They will let executives above treat people poorly and never say a word. Depending on your department the people are spread so thin they are really stressed - I felt like I was walking on egg shells most of the time. If you weren't a permanent employee you couldn't go to the sample sales with the perm employees you had to sit at your desk and work while watching everyone coming back with bags filled with loot for like 20.00 and you could go with the public and line up at 3:00AM on a Saturday morning! It was a major downer. Made contractors feel like they weren't working as hard as the full time employees! We wanted to be full time with benefits (who wouldn't). They string the temps along telling them to hang in there and it's going to go perm. I knew people who were there as temps for 2 years plus!

    Advice to Management

Teach your executive team how to treat the "little people" with some respect and kindness! People work harder for you when you treat them nicely! Also, be upfront - if there is no budget for the job to go permanent let the temp know so they know what they are signing up for.
