Positive Outlook

I worked at Whirlpool Corporation as a contractor (Less than a year)

Pros

The pay is good for employees that can stay with the job for several years. Temporaries from Kelly start at $10.25 an hour. The average assembler makes $12.40 and the team leaders make $16.50 an hour. The work areas are very clean and organised.

Cons

The KitchenAid Hand Mixers are assembled and tested by teams of six workers and one is completed every 30 seconds so you have to concentrate on the job you are assigned so this is not for people that don't have a serious attitude about assembly work.

Advice to Management

I am gratefull that Whirpool management brought the Kitchen Aid Hand Mixer production back from China and encourage them to do all Whirlpool production here in our country.

    Pros

    Solid brand with exposure to multiple areas of the business.
    Opportunity to learn process development and process control.

    Cons

    Strategic direction of the company is consistently changing and functional areas do not/cannot align.
    Does not provide leadership development opportunities. Always seeking the next "top talent" without understanding the implications or training required to grow talent.

    Advice to Management

    Choose a path to grow the company and pursue, the continued meeting of bottom lines through cost cutting does not feed innovation or drive talent development. Leadership is touted, but in reality is weak. Take hold of every opportunity to develop junior employees and strategically bring in outside talent, do not use it as standard practice. Stop the continued focus on individual functional area results, actually hold groups accountable for the performance of the shared company goals.

    Pros

    Very nice to support a business the supports their local area. Pay is competitive, environment is friendly, overall in their local area its a nice place to work

    Cons

    Management can sometimes be very partial to their friends and to advance sometimes requires a little bit of butt kissing.
