I worked at White Lodging full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Allowed to work autonomously. Some GMs are great, some are terrible.

Cons

Overworked, no recognition, no company culture. No HR presence at all. Bad training/No training program.

Advice to Management

Have HR in the hotels. No one is disciplining and problem associates seem to take over and every location. Have a training program. If there is one, it isn't used, again because of the lack of HR.

    Pros

    They pay more than most companies

    Cons

    It's not worth the money the managers are terrible and treat their employees like kids. They do not train employees yet they are quick to write up employees for doing something or not doing something they never learned. Managers have been known to set employees up to get terminated!

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees, be respectful, learn how to actually manage, and actually take time to train your employees.

    I have been working at White Lodging full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Emphasis on teamwork
    -Good benefits
    -Company is growing so opportunity to advance is high
    -Hard work recognized and rewarded
    -Cool people to work with
    -Lots of opportunity for movement--hotels in different cities across the US. I moved from Chicago to Nashville
    -Values driven company

    Cons

    -Long hours
    -needs to be more environmentally friendly
    -interviewing process is not easy--come prepared

    Advice to Management

    I don't have much advice as the company pretty much runs like a well-oiled machine. I would stress more of a work-life balance. The hotel industry in general is tough with long hours and minimal holidays.
