Pros

They treat their employees very well, both personally and professionally. They go to great lengths to treat you 'like a person first and an employee second.' Compared to most companies, it has very little politics. The people here are very good people. And the Wiley family is great.

Cons

They tend to move very slowly to make decisions--there's a lot of paralysis by analysis, though there have been attempts to change that recently. It's a flat organization, so there aren't a lot of opportunities to move up. Also by being flat, management tends to be involved in a lot of decisions, which can often make people feel like they have responsibility but little authority.

Advice to Management

Move more quickly. Support (with money) the innovative ideas of your employees. Delegate authority to the lowest levels possible. Take more risks.

Not enough credit for good work, though errors are immediately and severely dealt with

No clarity on role in projects

    Pros

-Wonderful benefits, 401K, flex-spend card to pay for doctor.
    -Nice people to work with.
    -Great holiday parties
    -Relaxed environment
-Can dress casually most of the time.

    Cons

-No room for growth!!! If you want to do the same thing for 20-30 years then this is the company for you.
-HR is a joke. They claim to help you and say they are on your side but they are only looking out for themselves in the end.
-Terrible management. Even in you try to bring the issue up nothing gets done.
    - Upper management: All they care about is whether the work gets done.
-If you're on the bottom, you're not going to be making good money. There are some people who have taken on second jobs--and that was before the economy went south.
-Many of the jobs are thankless--slow to get praise but quick to reprimand.
-Bright and creative people are not appreciated. Any time a liite creativity is shown it gets shut down quickly.

    Advice to Management

    PAY PEOPLE A DECENT WAGE!!!
Let people in the company move up--since that's one of the first things you tell potential employees, Be open to new ideas. Be more aware that it's not always the little people who are messing up--sometimes it's the middle management.
