Recommends

I worked at Wiley as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

-Paid
-Some of the best people that I've ever worked with
-Learn about all (or most) aspects of the publishing industry
-Sit-in on strategy meetings and meetings with clients

Cons

-Location (Malden is on the Orange Line which helps, but somewhere downtown or in Cambridge would've been nice)

Advice to Management

Keep the internship program going!

I worked at Wiley full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Comfortable work environment
    Many smart, talented employees
    Great work/life balance
Proactive approach to market and industry changes

    Cons

    High-performers are sometimes overlooked
Communication through different levels of the company needs to be improved
Dramatic scope and fast pace of ongoing changes at the company have lowered morale throughout the organization
Collegial, family-feel of the culture seems to have disappeared

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to pockets of untapped talent, especially in the middle layers of the organization and in areas that are being restructured. Don't overlook transferable skills.
