I have been working at Williams-Sonoma part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Great discount. WS is a great brand.

Cons

Not much opportunity for growth if you are stuck at the store level. Managers don't seem to be trained in looking for talent that might make for good long term career paths. Pay is terrible.

Advice to Management

Keep an eye out for talented people that might want to grow with the co. Don't insult us by offering a .25 increase in pay. Look for ways to recognize your performers. Catch the Spirit Award is nebulous award - shouldn't it be performance based at least partially? District manager would not know who I am even though I have worked at this store for over 3 years! They don't care.

I have been working at Williams-Sonoma part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Was a wonderful company with dedicated employees and customers. It is no longer.

    Cons

Everything from current product lines, buyers, DC and customer clienteling programs have tanked. There is nothing of quality left. Even the brands carried are plummeting to the deepest depths. May as well shop and work at Sur La Table and Bed Bath and Beyond.

    Advice to Management

Laura Alder and Shareholders..... You have blown it. Your drive for personal gain has killed an amazing company. Sorry. I know. I know. Drive those shareholder profits at all expense to the customer and then sell the company. That is the goal. The goal is not to maintain a quality brand any longer.

I have been working at Williams-Sonoma full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great product and dedicated associates.
The best customer service model in the business.

    Cons

Laura is not a replacement for Howard. She lacks the heart and passion for the brand she leads. She lacks the ethics and poise to be in her position.

    Advice to Management

Get back to the core of what made WS best in class.
