I have been working at Willis Towers Watson full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Competitive salary
    -Some flexibility in schedule worked
-Good name to have on your resume

    Cons

-No training or mentorship whatsoever. They are very dismissive when you express interest in further training
-'Big brother' is in full effect here. Micromanaging your comings and goings, reading your emails, monitoring your instant messages.
    -Terrible and expensive benefits
-Extremely conservative environment (dress code, etc.)
-Those promoted to management rolls have little to no experience managing others and it's evident.
-No team environment between producers and service staff. 'Us against them' mentality. You are disregarded if you're not selling.

    Advice to Management

-Invest and show some interest in training and developing new employees. The 'on-boarding' process is a mess and it goes downhill from there.
-Spend less time micromanaging and more time on developing trust and good working relationships with employees
    -Promote a team approach
-Management structure changed 3 times in 3 months; doesn't send a message of stability to your employees

"As 2+ year old merger of WW/TP continues to takes hold, culture clash is still very much evident."

    Approves of CEO

I worked at Willis Towers Watson full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good clients. Good Account Management model. Decent training for junior level. Lots of offices around the world. Good work-at-home policies. Decent technology (windows 7, finally), CEO is very approachable and has delivered excellent results to shareholders.

    Cons

Culture clash between legacy firms is significant, and varies greatly depending on the office and/or practice. WW was very flat, collaborative, open, but consensus driven and slow moving. TP was a very hierarchical partnership, everyone on a need-to-know only basis, and uncollaborative, but faster moving and more sales oriented. Little attention was paid to create a new culture. WW was more wild-west and innovative. TP was more structured and parters ruled. Post merger these two approaches have yet to find a happy middle ground.

LIke any large firm, strategic decisions take forever. Corporate red tape has increased under the cover of a maturing firm.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to the underlying culture differences that everyone glossed over during the merger.
