I worked at Winegardner & Hammons full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Discounted room rates at all participating Marriott brand hotels. Ability to build relationships with guests. If a great team is in place, it could definitely be an incredible job experience.

    Cons

High turn-over rate, long hours (as to be expected within hospitality industry). Training - I DID NOT receive a single day of true Front Desk Manager training, I self-taught myself all I came to know. After 3+ years with the company, the recruitment of qualified new employees diminished greatly. (Seemed to hire any half-viable applicant to walk through the door, simply because most departments were always short-staffed) A lot of employees do not follow policy or protocol and are not held accountable.

    Advice to Management

Be involved! Hold all associates accountable to the same extent. Hire qualified, eager-to-learn candidates. For corporate management - I highly suggest you sit down with line-level associates on your sporadic visits. You will gain a great deal of knowledge and the truth behind the property and how daily events are conducted at your properties. (More so than the General Manager or AGM will lead you to believe.)
