Pros

Employees are very knowledgeable and committed to growth

Cons

Advice to Management

As a global IT company Wipro needs to learn to hire local resources rather than transfer Indian resources into a market or industry.

"Occasional highs, but you quickly realize growth opportunities for lateral hires are limited."

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

    - High energy and good talent
    - Trusts and respects employee's judgment and decision making
    - Supportive of field force

    Cons

Great if you join at entry level at Bangalore and grow inside the organization, but limited growth prospects for talented lateral hires. No matter what, you will always remain an outsider and watch all those grandfathered into senior leadership roles call all the shots and keep growing year after year. You often wonder if the senior execs will be employable outside Wipro in similar roles.

    Advice to Management

Improve diversity in management and leadership roles (ethnic and gender)

Engage lateral hires better, show them a growth path and role models. They bring valuable outside perspective and experience. Don't let your old 'veterans' in their ivory towers drive them away.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

They pay better base salaries now then when I joined. You can work at and get access to some great customer companies.

    Cons

    16 hour days.
turnover approaching 40% in some areas; 25% in most other areas.
    incompetent co-workers
    uncompetitive offerings and pricing
not able to staff positions in the U.S. and have a tough time staffing positions in India
    uncompetitive pay and bonus
    unrealistic sales targets
unwilling to make any investments to grow or provide new and competitive offerings.

    Advice to Management

Management has just reshuffled again but there is still too many middle managers - they need to be eliminated. You need to hire competent U.S. leaders to lead in the U.S. Most U.S. managers are from India and came up through the ranks when you could send a dog or robot into a customer office and get a signature on an outsourcing agreement - no sales skill needed.

Most of the current U.S. management has no management or leadership skills or abilities.
