I have been working at Wolters Kluwer full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Very focused on the customer, great software and serving focused professional niches. People care passionately about their domain expertise, e.g., banking, medicine, law, tax. Lot's of opportunity to move up internally

Cons

Very complex legacy structure of individual publishing firms and individual software firms transitioning into a more cohesive operating model

Advice to Management

Focus on excellence in software and excellence in customer intimacy and excellence in the core to enable the other two,

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Wolters Kluwer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Still searching for a "pro" to working here, but it has been very difficult.

    Cons

Employees who try to advance internally are offered very low salaries compared to outside hires with no experience with the company's flagship software. Management is restructured every 4-6 months, so you never know who you will be working for. Bonuses have been decent but the yearly raises are piddly, 1/3 the cost of living increases each year.

    Advice to Management

Stop the reshuffling and fight to pay internal employees more for wanting to do a good job and advance themselves. Stop hiring consultants instead of internal talent. The new CEO lacks some serious people skills. When your employee says hello in the elevator don't be rude and ignore them, as she's done multiple times unless you're upper management.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Casual attire, free sodas, flexible hours. Nice facility in a beautiful city. Pharmacy OneSource products help save lives.

    Cons

The company was acquired by a large, public, multi-national firm so they have no idea of who you are. Large turnover of management and staff, even the CEO and founders left. Very few employees have been employed there for more than 7 years. Focused on profits

    Advice to Management

Look at what made it a successful company in the first place. Recognize that employees are resources.
