Pros

One the best places in DC to research international public policy. Very pro student. Excellent food options. Gorgeous interior. Great library. Policy and area researches are top notch.

Cons

Intern tasks can become monotonous. Interns need to be aware of this and actively communicate with their mentors.

Advice to Management

if unpaid internship, please at least provide a transportation stipend.

I worked at Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars as an intern

    Pros

Fun, Interesting, and gave me a lot of responsibilities. The dept. heads like to help you network.

    Cons

    They were highly unorganized. Highly.

    Advice to Management

Have a better idea of what you want out of your interns, and set more firm deadlines.

    "Former Program Assistant"

I worked at Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars full-time

    Pros

Great work atmosphere, very friendly and interesting
Smart people all around, Scholars are college professors, journalists, and former govt. officials
Chance to meet and work with influential individuals and organizations
Easy work/life balance, rarely asked to work long or odd hours if working the program side

    Cons

As with other "think tanks" there is little to no advancement, if you work on the program side you are either under 30 or over 50
High turnover, but again this is how think tanks operate, you work there for a couple of years at most and then move on to graduate school or another position
