Approves of CEO

I have been working at Workman Publishing full-time (More than a year)

Pros

I have opportunity to rise quickly in the company but because of my own gumption. I had support, when I asked for it and had the opportunity to try my own ideas.

Cons

I didn't always receive the best support, but often had to seek it out. Their methods are quite outdated, but that also gives them room to grow.

Advice to Management

Invest in young employees.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Is a professional organization that is well respected in the field. Therefore, it is a good starter career move. And, for those interested in specialty fields it can be a great job, though a bit of a pressure cooker.

    Cons

There are some passive aggressive tendencies in the organization that start at the very top. This can make it difficult to know what is going on. Too bad in a company that is not that big and could have much better communications.

    Advice to Management

Empower more. Hire excellent managers and trust them.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Extremely high salaries, good benefits, very friendly staff.

    Cons

Systems antiquated, very eccentric culture, management by negative reinforcement. No HR policies or department

    Create an HR department
