I have been working at Xerox full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Opportunity for some good, rewarding work if you are in the right group. Reasonable pay structure.

Cons

Technology portion of the business shrinking, struggling for growth and margins

Advice to Management

Eliminate all the non-jobs that aren't adding value to the business or customers. Get the right senior management team in place (read let go of those that have clearly failed, don't just find them a comfortable seat to sit in the corner on). Be aggressive on making the cost structure fit the business then motivate/reward the folks remaining.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Working with great customers. Somehow being able to stay employed with them for many years.

    Cons

Senior management does not know what they are doing. Poor decisions are made constantly. Forever cutting costs at the customers expense. Always in a downsizing mode, even if you are hired don't expect to last long. You are treated as a number, not a human being that can contribute to the future of the company. This company has become a horror to work for.

    Advice to Management

Replace existing management with folks who know what they are doing. The constant downsizing for years and years is just creating a fleet of mediocre employees. Talented employees are leaving so inexperienced kids can fill in for half the cost. Customers do notice the changes and it is getting harder and harder to convince them to stay.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very little micromanaging for positions NOT at corporate HQ; have usually liked co-workers in different groups; very interesting technology. Xerox does value corporate ethics and does detailed follow through to see that all employees are aware of the policies.

    Cons

Very little if any concern for employee's career; training, career growth, annual reviews and career planning are pretty much non-existent; benefits are not good and have continued to get worse ever since the 2008 recession; lot of management by fear and people constantly looking over their shoulders due to ongoing cost cutting and layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Cost cutting may be necessary, but you can still make it a decent place to work by investing more time in the employees' welfare, even if it is not financially motivated.
