I have been working at YMCA part-time

Pros

working with the kids, helping them learn

Cons

-depending on location, management is young and disorganized
-hiring process was a little chaotic, was initially called to interview for a different position with better pay, but was given lower level position with significantly less pay, no benefits, and no opportunities to advance.
-not enough hours are given
-doesn't make workers feel like an asset, make them feel disposable.
-does not pay workers with higher education significantly more than workers without.
-high turnover

I have been working at YMCA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice, helpful co-workers. Freedom to be creative. Excellent resources for beginning teachers. Free gym membership. Discounted pre-school and day care.

There is a real team and family atmosphere at this company. The teachers and staff really care about the students. Teachers are allowed to be creative in their lesson preparation and tailor a class to the specific needs of their students.

    Cons

    Rare or non-existent salary raises.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.
