I worked at YMCA part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Easy to get time off, shifts traded around, the management was nice most of the time. The members were friendly and their were lots of free workout perks

Cons

The pay rate was rather low, but the job was rather easy. The indoor pool temp was ridiculously hot, and we were not allowed to open the doors

Advice to Management

I thought they did a good job and worked hard, especially considering they don't make very much either.

I have been working at YMCA part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great family-feel. CPR/First Aid training required annually. Free membership for working there plus family gets a discount.

    Cons

Very low scale pay. Also, there is a lot of activity going on so not always kept up-to-date.

    Advice to Management

Would like more communication to employees about the branch happenings.

  2. "The work is rewarding, but the regional leadership is inept ..."

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at YMCA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working with the kids and the community ... the reward one gets from this makes up for the 12 - 14 hour days.

    Cons

Poor leadership & communication to staff; Upper management is out of touch with what's actually going at the ground level ... she relies on rumors or opinions from middle managers, who,in turn apparently don't want to communicate with the staff and makes no effort to support them.

    Advice to Management

You have good hard working people working for you, so they should be respected for their knowledge and hard work.
