I have been working at Yahoo as a contractor (More than 3 years)

Pros

Very open minded culture with a lot to offer to learn. Top Customer care company. Different interesting areas and multicultural feeling.

Cons

Contractors get no benefits. You can stay for several years without getting the chance of a contract. Since the late changes benefits are only and specially focused just for the US despite it is a transnational company.

Advice to Management

Many people get there without being committed to their jobs and just waiting for the paycheck when working after a while. The professional growth has a lack of existence in many countries. The clear preference with the benefits only over the US employees is an open invitation to rethink the philosophy of the company and how much other markets are way less important to it.

I worked at Yahoo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    The people! Amazing technical talent.
The freedom to work in whichever way suits you. Flexible work hours.
The benefits - the tech talks, the learning sessions, the food, the macbooks and the goodies

    Cons

    Frequent re-orgs, shuffles
    Clueless upper management (circa 2009-10)
Bleeding technical talent due to above reasons. The amazing people I knew kept leaving Y! for greener pastures. They just needed a reason, a goal, some direction and they couldn't get that at Y!

    Advice to Management

Please get your act together! It's about time someone took charge and lead the brilliant technical folks to bring out some amazing products.
