"Not for the types who need or thrive on stability in the workplace."

Pros

In the past, movement within the company was relatively easy- people could explore other roles and teams to find better fits and as a means of retaining talent.

Cons

That flexibility seems to be dwindling with more rigid process being instituted around transfers. And as it is in any large corporation, there is a lot of ambiguity in roles/responsibilities and constant change.

    Pros

Open work environment, good benefits, great people to work with, access to perks if you're in Sunnyvale

    Cons

If you're in one of the satellite offices (non-Sunnyvale), you're basically just an appendage, not really remembered until something is truly damaged. Career pathing works for some teams, but not all. Management is not always aware of a problem until the problem is going nuclear, despite repeated attempts by employees to address issues with systems, other employees. Other managers micromanage, which hinders progress, other don't manage at all, and are content to spend their days in their cubicles talking with favored coworkers.

    Advice to Management

Step up to the plate and BE MANAGERS!

    Pros

Good work life balance and you get to work with some pretty smart people. You also get to work on some businesses that really have scale.

    Cons

Low employee morale, and depending on what group you are in, career advancement is difficult. Also, if you are on the product management side, most of your team will be distributed (engineering in India) so expect meetings at night.
