Pros

Interesting projects, get to work with great teams and individuals, scale and breath of your projects enable you to touch almost 1 out 10 people in the world.

Cons

Some teams are territorial and do not like to cooperate for the bigger picture. Sometimes work creeps into your entire life, taking phone calls, checking/responding to emails all times of the day and night

Advice to Management

Try to stay ahead of the curve. There are times when it seems that Yahoo is trying to catch up or dropped the ball on key projects

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

The company treats its employees well and with respect. There is an emphasis on innovation and fast execution. Lots of interesting projects to work on.

    Cons

Yahoo has been poorly managed. It needs a strong COO. Lots of infighting among different divisions. Folks with technical backgrounds are put in management roles before they are ready.

    Advice to Management

Yahoo needs a clear direction and a coherent product strategy. It also needs a strong COO to run the company effectively.

    Pros

100 smartest people on the internet back then were the first 100 yahoos
    open communication from upper management
    parties to celebrate every release
    video game center
    Entertainment People (company band!)

    Cons

    long hours
    self-imposed deadlines
    mediocre medical benefits
parties to celebrate every release (got tiring)

    Advice to Management

Pay heed to the joke about the big search companies: Google is run by engineers, Microsoft is run by lawyers, and Yahoo! is run by Hollywood types. Too true and likely to be Yahoo's ruin in the long run. Sorry Jerry & Filo....it was a good run.while it lasted.
