I have been working at Yale New Haven Health System full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work life balance, little stress but it depends who you work for. You can't get fired, even if you are really bad at your job.

    Cons

No turnover in IT, most managers have been there forever. Extremely low pay increases, even for top performers. The higher you go up in your salary band, the less pay increase opportunity you will receive. Very hard to move up because there is little turnover, most management has been there for years in the same positions. They have a complete monopoly on the entire New Haven area so are pushing salaries down. Unless you move there is little else out there. They are slashing the pension benefits. All money is funneled to the top executives. No trickle down.

    Advice to Management

Offer better pay increases to top performers, else they will just leave and you will be stuck with just the ones that are content to punch a 9-5 job and nothing else.

I worked at Yale New Haven Health System as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great access to senior leadership within Northeast Medical Group, Bridgeport Hospital, Yale-New Haven Hospital, and the System. Senior management in NEMG is motivated and driven to change the landscape of care in Connecticut.

    Cons

Human Resources is sort of a mess. As with any internship, your mileage will vary, and depends a LOT on how much work you invest in projects, networking, etc.
