I worked at Yale University part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay and interesting work. The university makes it easy to find jobs that are available to the community and facilitates the application process.

    Cons

None that I can think of. Jobs at the university are near where students live and are high paying (or at least enough so given the student contribution) compared to their equivalents outside the university.

    "Excellent but competitive research environment"

-broad range of expertise across many different departments
    -University with International reputation
    -Reasonable teaching load

    Cons

-Lack of mentoring structure for junior faculty
-many senior faculty members are backward-looking
    -opaque promotion mechanisms
