I have been working at Yale University full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Benefits!! Medical and paid time off can't be rivaled. Work hours are equally liberal. The new Haven area is fantastic location to work and play. Tons of social activities.

Cons

Stagnation. Hard to advance without hopping around. Well funded departments are able to remain lightweight and flexible while core services lumber with many vestigial services.

Advice to Management

Create pathways for new talent.

I have been working at Yale University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Beautiful campus
    -Friendly fellow employees
-Great attentive employers who will listen to your suggestions and implement them fairly quickly. Idea turnaround/innovation is great here.
-Everything is fairly centralized and close to each other; there isn't much travel time between locations.
-Training sessions are paid and fun!

    Cons

    -Sometimes high-stress workload
-Expected to fix too many problems with too little resources (too little manpower).
    -Sometimes understaffed
-Not much room to climb up (expected, though).

I have been working at Yale University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really high student minimum wage, administrators/bosses are very sympathetic to student responsibilities and allow for flexible scheduling

    Cons

Sometimes the responsibilities given to you at these student minimum wage jobs are very limited - not a whole lot of learning involved/irregular trainings

    Advice to Management

Better, more-regular training would greatly benefit both students and management. You won't have to hire as many employees if you just train the ones you already have well!
