I worked at York Risk Services Group full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Good variety of people to work with. They all bring differing views on the approach to problem solving.

Cons

favoritism and no appreciation of individual acheivement. The company only values numbers and treats its employees as disposable tools. You are expectted to produce like a machine and are not valued for your efficiency or creativity. There is blatant favoritism and you are not encouraged to take time off.

Advice to Management

Distribute the workload evenly and rearrange management in order to diminish favoritism.

I worked at York Risk Services Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are very nice and friendly, good benefits, nice work environment, flexible work schedule, early release before holidays, ample PTO

    Cons

Unorganized, I was hired to work in the Orange office but had to train in Riverside which was never mentioned to me until my first day of work. After commuting 40 miles each way for 2 weeks I finally got a computer and logins to train. The rest of the time was spent watching people do their work. I was supposed to get reimbursed for mileage but the supervisor that hired me resigned 2 days after I started and never told anybody that she had promised it to me. The pay is very low also.

    Advice to Management

Be more honest to your employees and offer better pay.

    Pros

    Friendly co-workers
    Regular treats from vendors
    Generally peaceful office
    Part-time employment opportunities

    Cons

One hour of training provided to new employees and the training only covers the claims system
Performance bonuses not paid on time if at all
Excessively high caseloads by the company's own standards due to understaffing
Regular claim system/IT issues hinder productivity
Human resources department is overwhelmed and requires weeks to process basic requests

    Advice to Management

    More training and development
Follow through on office protocols and initiatives
