I have been working at Youth Villages full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Having interaction and creative freedom with the youth. The supporting staff was pleasant and good to work with. Co-workers were helpful and knowledgeable.

Cons

Low salary, crazy hours, youth are always defended even when they are wrong, not a career minded company, and you have no life outside of work.

Advice to Management

Spend the money to keep good workers for an extended period of time. Punish the youth for their wrong doings. Develop a better system transporting the youth to appointments, training during the shift you work and have a direct 40 hour week and not crazy hours.

I have been working at Youth Villages full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Your co-workers are great. That's about it.

    Cons

I am still pretty new to this company, but I have only had one day off since I started working. They say they give you paid time off, but don't expect to get that time off you request approved. It's impossible and you have to request it three months in advance. I work roughly 65-70 hours per week and that's not really by choice. They also ask you to work night and day shifts, sometimes double shifts, so it's really hard to sleep. Plus if you work nights and sleep in the day, they will be calling you all day long.

I was at my last job for six years, but I'm still pretty new here and already looking for a new job. They treat you like you are disposable. You're just a warm body to them. The moral is very low. I've never worked for a company with so many unhappy employees before.

    Advice to Management

Follow your motto. "DO WHAT YOU SAY YOU DO!!"
