Pros

Gives your solid quant and data analysis skills compared to other consulting firms

Cons

Formerly had good visa application program for international students, but that policy has since been cancelled.

Advice to Management

Outsourcing data analysts overseas is fine for cost savings, but that displaces a large amount of talented internationals who would otherwise stay and contribute to the firm for a long time.

    Pros

Intelligent people for a certainty - if you call "book smart" people intelligent

    Cons

    Poorly managed
    Not set up for success
    Insufficient tools to perform job
Expectations of performance not based in reality
The word " hypocritical" comes to mind - preach how much they care about the employee
mentoring, training, coaching etc, etc and will fire you without ever applying one iota of their cool aid.

    Advice to Management

Break up your " good ol boy" club.
Theiri mgt is poorly trained. Serious lack of interpersonal skill sets
But understandable once you realize these people have been staring at data points and slide decks for the last 20 years of their lives

I worked at ZS Associates full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Amazing and very smart people who are always willing to help
    - No a-type crazy competitive consultants
    - Very intellectually stimulating work
    - Great geographic coverage and mobility
    - Very flat organization and meritocracy driven work culture
    - Very comprehensive and transparent review process
    - Significantly less travel vs. other consulting firms
    - Better than industry average retention

    Cons

    - A lot of focus on healthcare (not a Con for me but may be for some)
    - Focus on sales and marketing issues - strategic as well as operational (again - good for some but may be restrictive)
    - This is consulting - so wake up and face the reality - you are not going home at 5 pm everyday!

    Advice to Management

    - Combine the 3 analyst tracks into one
    - Expand beyond sales and marketing (even within healthcare)
