Cons
- In my opinion, leadership decisions often created organizational challenges.
- During a CNN interview, the CNN host asked the CEO to explain an answer he gave 'in layman's terms' and I don't think I've ever appreciated an interview follow-up question as much as I appreciated that one (check out 'Zapier CNN' on YouTube). I took Spanish in HS and when I hear people actually speaking it, I catch some of it but not all of it. That's often how I felt when listening to the CEO speak or when I read his company-wide messages.
- From my POV, has a 'throw everything at the wall and see what sticks' approach.
- CEO seems to think power users are reflective of all users.
- In my opinion, CEO responses to challenging questions from employees felt dismissive. I can't say I sensed much humility.
- There is a push to "build" with AI that felt oppressive to me. I use AI frequently but I think Zapier has taken it to another level. It would have been tolerable had I seen an effort to tie the "building and shipping" to business results. Maybe that effort was happening but if it was I was not aware of it. I was certainly aware of the AI push. Maybe it was just me but I started to get a 'resistance is futile' vibe.
