I worked at Zimmerman Advertising full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Great learning experience, lot of responsibility and ability to move up quickly.

Cons

Too many clients per AE. Too many hours, no work life balance. Lots of vacation but you can never use it! Hard to move from one division to another to further your career. No mentoring, get thrown to the wolves which means no personal growth. Not sympathetic when you bring up these issues. Upper management is the problem. They are apathetic and hands off. Non motivating. Low pay.

Advice to Management

Put energy into your employees and the turn over will be less which saves the company money and keeps the clients happy. Care about your people!

I have been working at Zimmerman Advertising full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

the paycheck clears. you can always cut versions of your work to put on your site or reel to namecheck the national clientele.

    Cons

horrible benefits, hours and management. the JZ cult of personality is a joke (wow, take the word "brand" and add it to "retail"... GENIUS! if you find yourself on a creative team that answers to Count Zevula, be prepared to wait hours on end to let an egomaniac narcissist rewrite your on-strategy work to his own informercialesque whims (in-between his more pressing stints as a politician and kaballah snake oil merchant). pay is below scale. teams are overtasked. saturdays and sundays are far too often the rule and not the exception. morale unsurprisingly sucks.

    Advice to Management

learn to like the taste of something other than your own Z-Ade. advertising is an art, not just a commodity. wait, why am i bothering? keep doing what you're doing.

I have been working at Zimmerman Advertising full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Will hire you right out of college. You will learn a lot and have instant responsibilities. Can be promoted after a year.

    Cons

No pay. You start out with $24,000. Managers will use you and replace you without a problem if you leave.
