I have been working at Zywave full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

base + commission and full benefits, work hard/play hard mentality, opportunity for advancement from within, Spiffs and different sales contests makes it very rewarding

Cons

First couple weeks of training can get boring with a lot of reading sales books and writing weekly reports, CRM system the sales team uses to prospect needs a lot of cleaning up

Advice to Management

play a larger role in closing deals instead of just talking about the activity that takes to get there

I have been working at Zywave full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Growing fast
    - Normally promotes from within. I have been promoted once, and I feel its possible to go higher
    - Open communication - management shares specific numbers & is more candid than I have ever seen
    - Lost of fresh energy in all teams
    - Easy to make friends and attend social events
    - Sr. management, especially Jim Emling, really has a stunning grasp on the details of the whole company. He is a bit tough to get to know, but once you do, he's really impressive.

    Cons

    - Some of the middle managers are pretty new at their jobs - they were good individual performers, but do not have a lot of training.
    - Performance review process seems forced.
    - Bonuses seem hard to achieve 100% payout - I got 70% last year, but it seemed like a good year

    Advice to Management

    - Consider making the bonuses more achievable. It feels like they are set too aggressively.
    - Provide more training for newer managers.
    - Provide more access points to senior managers (all teams).

Other than that, keep up the great work. It's fun to be part of a high tech company in my hometown of Milwaukee that is growing.

I have been working at Zywave full-time

    Pros

    Young workforce
    Flex Hours
    Decent benefits
    Modern office
    Friendly peer group

    Cons

    Low salaries
Unattainable goals (company goals) = minimal bonus payout/raises
    Inexperienced management
    Turnover
Large focus on sales (favored side of the company)
No growth path for current employees
    Favoritism
    Poor mid-level management

    Advice to Management

Get rid of Jim Emling and get som fresh blood in there. He has done fine, but he is not inspiring, not liked, and not respected. The company is losing great talent because they aren't paying a competitive salary and employees do not feel like that are valued.
