I have been working at bebe stores full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Mgmt. Level is paid hourly and not salary, so we can have a better work/ life balance only working 40 hours. Very fashion toward and high energy environment that is constantly changing and evolving! Given all the proper tools for training on selling tips, current trends, and new strategies to be successful. Despite some of the reviews here, the best part is the clientelling! You can take control of the business by connecting and building relationships with your clients and it is fun!!

Cons

Must be able to adapt to change, as policies, visual displays, and schedules are constantly changing to keet the needs of the store. Stylists and lower management levels do not get as much time interacting with district and regional managers as the store managers. Must be prepared and willing to learn and grow as there are very high expectations and responsibilities fir each member of management

Advice to Management

I would love to see more recognition and compensation for stylists in lower volume stores.

    Pros

Generally clear directive, from their newsletter to the visual aides they provide. They do a good job of passing along information.
Relatively strong training program, including very detailed videos (though sometimes out of date) and corresponding quizzes.
GREAT benefits package that includes a PTO (personal time off) pool, equating to about 5 hours for every 2 weeks worked. This made it very easy to take necessary sick time, vacation time, and personal time.

    Cons

The company seems to burn out people in the DM position. This causes stores to feel the burn out their DMs are feeling, causing unnecessary stress.
The commission program is only beneficial to those that work in large cities. They would do better in paying stylists a higher hourly wage, in smaller cities, so they can get better talent in the store or to keep their talent.
The Vice President, Susan Powers, is out of touch.

    Advice to Management

Do away with the archaic clientele books that does nothing but annoy the unsuspecting customers who decide to be your "client". It doesn't work in smaller locations. This is an example of how Susan Powers is out of touch.
