Current Employee - Sales Associate in Warrenton, MO
Current Employee - Sales Associate in Warrenton, MO
    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

    - customers and other associates are friendly and pleasant to work with
    - flexibility in hours--can work around a second job or family commitments
    - 40% discount on clothing

    Cons

    - low pay as compared to other retail jobs in the area-- average raise doesn't even keep up with inflation--the longer you stay, the further behind you get
    - unfair salary practices--new people coming in can be paid more than veteran employees
    - constant pressure to meet sales goals and quotas with very little reward
    - most employees are part time and receive no benefits
    - very little appreciation for hard work--evaluations are based solely on numbers (UPTs, $PTs, charges opened, etc,) but numbers can be skewed easily if someone "steals" your sales or makes a mistake in giving you credit. No way to correct these mistakes or change them afterward. If you have a slow day, you lose, you are expected to make your sales even if no customers enter the store.
    - any time worked before the store opens or after the store closes lowers your sales statistics which counts against you
-too much power play from managers and district managers--when they want to get rid of someone, they pressure them to quit by cutting hours, making them work the worst schedule possible, reporting miniscule infractions that everyone makes. --that way they get out of paying unemployment benefits very subjective--if a manager doesn't like you for some reason they force you out

    Advice to Management

Recognize that all employees deserve respect and fair treatment. Reward them for all of their hard work. Quit trying to save money by screwing over the workers.
