Pros

Great place to work , collaborative environment going through a lot of change but will emerge better. Great building and well established business priorities. Going through a tough time but there are a lot of opportunities for people thinking of joining eircom.

Cons

Capital constrained and very bureaucratic - you have to be tough to get things achieved in eircom. very resource constrained i.e. you have to work hard and have to be persistent

    Pros

eircom offers a good work/life balance, friendly working environment and a first class officescape. Despite all the challenges people still have job security and many of my colleagues who have left tell me that the environment is much better than most companies, particularly MNCs. It shoudl be noted that in a company of this size the culture can vary between division.

    Cons

Pay and benefits are behind market leading companies. Opportunities for advancement can be limited.

    Advice to Management

Continue with the investment in people and the network.

    Pros

You can do the same job forever - if you'd like to.

    Cons

Very poor work life balance e.g. practically discourage remote working even when no technical difference or effect on role.
No career path for employees at any position (aside from trainee field engineers).
No encouragement to stretch/broaden skills of employees to accommodate cross dept. roles.
Although a number of retail products, very little, if any discounted for staff.
Extremely slow to adopt new technologies.
Very reluctant to offer technical training course for staff - at senior mgmt level it is encouraged, but at line manager level it is difficult to get approval

    Advice to Management

It is pointless dropping soundbites about policies such as training, work life balance and career development - you must find a way to ensure that policies in these areas are actioned to their utmost at ground level (line managers)
