I have been working at hhgregg full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Lots of hours and paid holidays

Friendly Staff and relaxed atmosphere

Easy policy and procedures guideline that makes it very hard to make a mistake.

Customer Service if you know the job has the tools to deal with 98% of problems without involving a manager, while still leaving the customer satisfied.

A large amount of training to make sure the product is know well across all store positions.

A Culture committed to helping every customer and making you feel like you made a difference in someones day because of the knowledge you have.

Cons

Lots of hours but mostly condensed into 12 and 13 hour shifts.

Having to Pay for your own uniform with shipping costing almost as much as the uniforms.

An Insane Emphasis on Cellular Phone sales even across departments and non-sales positions

Management is Uprooted at the whim of the upper management with no choice to the managers.

Conversion is an outdated system to base your hiring when you have people entering and exiting a store 9 or 10 times within an hour to price match competitors that are less than 2 blocks away.

If you do your job well, you have very little opportunity for advancement. Especially sales people who make decent commissions.

Advice to Management

When on the lookout for new managers try to hire within first instead of bringing people who are new to the company to take over departments they know nothing about. It seams most stores in my region are last resort stops for failed sears and home depot managers including the regional. Kind of disheartening when every manager i ask why they left their last company they don't say left to pursue another opportunity, it is always "Well i was fired from (insert name here)".

I have been working at hhgregg full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay for what your doing. Flexibility in doing what you want when you want. get to help people get what they need. It's not as bad as people make it out to be. If you are good at sales and dealing with the public, this job is for you, if you are not then you need to go somewhere else. I get to sell to people, make good money, and have fun, for the most part its relatively low stress, you just have to keep a smile on your face, money follows smiles.

    Cons

Sometimes have to go through extra crap just to get paid properly, i.e commision filebacks for inproper pay. Schedule never makes sense, loopholes hurt pay with simple exchanges.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is to not be a manager, ive been hearing ever since I starting working how the sales people make more money, and even after hearing that, those good sales people for some reason decide to become a manager and then complain that "sales people make more money." sounds to me that people are being warned yet do it anyways and then are surprised that the pay is not as good.
