I worked at hibu full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Adequate insurance benefits, good opportunity for someone who needs exposure to and/or enjoys cold calling business to business. Name recognition. One can make a moderate living, but, as in many of today's sales environments, very high pressure to perform with minimal support.

Cons

Requires high pressure sales approach, products overpriced and underperforming, requires considerable windshield time and 20% overnight travel. Minimal reward for performing.

Advice to Management

Products need to be closer to the cutting edge and more comprehensive.

I have been working at hibu full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Autonomy if you do not work near one of hibu's corporate centers (King of Prussia, PA or Cedar Rapids, IA). Remote working, if that is your thing, is a plus for those who need flexibility.

    Cons

Poor communication despite the obnoxious amount of "required" training they put you through. The management structure is such that it reminds me of a Ponzi scheme ... very tiered and the lower one is on the rung, the more heavy lifting is required.

    Advice to Management

Achieve better parity in the chiefs-to-Indians ratio.

I worked at hibu full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Taught me what I don't want out of a job.

    Cons

The training was very high-pressure and rigourous, yet taught me very little.

Antiquated selling practices, (in-peron cold calling) and products (Print Yellow Book). Extremely difficult sale. Their online products, SEO, SEM are very costly and many other providers are offering the same service for much less money.

The company held on to the print product for so long, now they're trying to play catch-up. It seems like they really don't know what do to. The stock price is worth notihing for a reason, and it's not a good one.

I would definitely stay away from this company.

    Advice to Management

People don't use the book anymore, time to move on.
