Negative Outlook

I have been working at ideeli full-time (More than a year)

Pros

The people are some of the best people that I have ever worked with in my career. The ability of the employees to relax and unwind with happy hours and other gatherings is refreshing.

Cons

The company is completely unfocused, and making rash and poor business decisions to compensate for the recent decline in revenue and increasing turnover rate. Not confident in the future success of the company as it seems disinterested in making smart and appropriate business decisions internally to maintain a strong employee base and continued growth.

Advice to Management

Would benefit from an upper-management overhaul as many of the decisions start at the top. Improvement is needed from the top down in order for this company to compete with the many up and coming competitors in the market.

    Pros

Majority of the staff is young and great to work with. However, management takes advantage of the youth. Employees are severely over worked and under appreciated.

    Cons

Management is completely out of touch with the staff. Employees are not updated on anything going on within the company. Completely chaotic and disorganized.

    Advice to Management

Get a grip on the situation, employees are unhappy. Over 25% of staff has left in 2012- this should be a major clue that changes need to occur within the organization.

    Pros

Best reasons: most people leave at 6.30PM. The bathrooms are nice. There is very little interaction outside of work with employees. You have no idea who the CEO is outside of the once a month meetings. If you are adept at throwing people under the bus to benefit yourself, this job is for you.

    Cons

There are no performance reviews. The whole HR department left the company at once - (imagine what that indicates!). To finalize what you will see at Ideeli --- there is no culture and there is no evidence of anybody wanting to know anyone else. Total crap show of departments throwing each other under the bus. If you like no-win politics and a continuous stream of short term band-aids to benefit board presentations, this job is for you.

    Advice to Management

CEO Paul owns the vast majority of the company. He will do what is necessary to insulate himself and to look good in front of investors. Even the CTO co-founder only has 5% of the company -- what does that tell you about how the company is run? Firings are a way to show investors that progress is being made.
