Pros

- Young atmosphere, which is great to make friends but not as great to have colleages to learn from. - Good if you are seeking for a career in Business Development or Sales, as the recruiters constantly approach Marcus Evans employees after few months of working there. Almost everybody which is there only stays to put something "professional" on the CV. -Learn about dealing with pressure, (hating every hour of it). -Good to learn negociating skills

Cons

Too many!!! Everything about this company is a LIE. - Everybody starts with a high enthusiam and through the course of the job ends up being mediocre given the lack of motivation. - Boring! only cold calling and researching about the same stuff all day (which makes you feel as a robot, nothing new or exciting) -HORRIBLE basic!! and so difficult to make a deal (the reputation of the company is so bad that it is not as easy to close a deal) - The staff turnover is the higuest I have ever seen. Thus, it has very unexperienced staff. - Not having your own computer, like a highschool. - The management doesn't listen suggestion and lacks empathy. Additionally, they expect you to lie and lie and lie to the potential clients! - The events are normally not good, so you will feel horrible selling a very expensive lie to the clients. - You are only a selling machine in there, not a human being. - ME doesn't event provide a microwave to save money on your lunch. Plus, they are very cheap in every aspect. - No enought training - No benefits at all! - People get sick working there. Not good for your health or state of mind. -Even if you sale an event, they will rush you to get back to the office to call. - Many of the managers are married or in a relationship, therefore it is like a dictatiorship in which you don't have anyone to complain about all of this situations. And many more cons...

Pros

I started at Marcus Evans Group in 2017 as a 22 year old kid, and left of my own volition during the peak of covid due to how it impacted the in person summit business model. I worked in Delegate Acquisition (DA) in the downtown Chicago office. I've now been at 4 companies in my career, and Marcus Evans is by far the best. First of all, it's challenging. If you are afraid to cold call, stay away. Having said that, the sales training here is superb. Whenever I interviewed for other jobs, they were always massively impressed by my time at ME group. The firm has a reputation for crafting excellent sellers through a well thought out process. This company looks great on your resume. Secondly, the opportunity for advancement is unparalleled. The org cares about one thing above all else; PERFORMANCE. If you perform, you can achieve incredible career growth. From my first job out of college, I was promoted 4 times to the point where I had a team of about 5 people under me. I learned how to pitch, how to lead a team, and how to build value with C-Level executives at major organizations. Enjoy travel? You will have the chance to attend summits in legit 5 star hotels and resorts around the country in places like LA, Las Vegas, Boston, Palm Beach and more. You get a real taste of international business. I worked mainly on the investment themed programs, where I was made the lead of a real estate focused event worth million of dollars... At the age of 24. You need to lean in. If you're smart, hard working, creative, and a bit ruthless, you will make real money here and experience tremendous personal / professional development. Once you prove yourself you will be given the chance to impact the direction of the business at the highest levels, providing insights and feedback to the CEO. I cannot stress enough how much you can grow in all areas at this company. As far as networking, you will become a trusted advisor the the C - Level leaders of fortune 1000 companies. I also forged incredible friendships, several of whom I still see on a regular basis. The people here are smart and interesting. It's a super diverse company with offices all over the world including folks from all sorts of countries and backgrounds in the Chicago office.

Cons

The main draw backs are: 1. Relatively low base salary. I believe some progress has been made on this since I left a few years ago, but this is a company for people who plan to perform and make a lot of money from commissions and bonus incentives. 2. OLD SCHOOL. This is a traditional British firm. The tech stack is quite outdated. The good news is that software / SRM obsessed processes do not get in your way. 3. No remote work. It's pretty much 5 days a week in the office.
