I worked at Emprise Bank full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people who try to make exceptional experiences for their customers. Try to be small-town bank. Conservative bank that has the customer's best interest at heart. College tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

Products are not the most desirable for customers. Expect customers to stay on loyalty alone. Community banks are going by the way-side as the "big" corporate image takes over.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate great employees. Trust your employees to do what is correct. Don't believe what anyone else says; see things for yourself and come to your own conclusion.

I worked at Emprise Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company's heart is in their community. They truly put the customer first. They expect incredible customer service and teamwork, which makes for a great atmosphere!

    Cons

The pay is not as high as other banks (but it is worth the price cut)!

    Advice to Management

Take more time to talk to each employee about their ideas for the company.

I worked at Emprise Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, small company feel, great work environment, great support and career advancement. Truly cares about customers as well as employees.

    Cons

The pay was far less than industry average in a similar role but right after I left they revamped the pay structure so that may have changed.

    Advice to Management

Approve a pay/bonus structure that promotes ancillary services over and above the lack luster hourly rate.

    Pros

Most associates are great to work with. Nice environment in most of the locations. Mr. Michaelis and Mr. Page are very nice to work for - demanding yet fair. A lot of projects to work on all of the time - you are not going to coast through anything here.

Training is fairly complete and regular updates are provided to make sure you can do your job effectively.

    Cons

I would agree with previous posters that if you are not in the "club" in terms of upper management, you have no chance at advancement. Certain executives are unsure of themselves or have a limited view of what really happens in their divisions and have a hard time making decisions. When they do finally decide something and it goes wrong, blame quickly shifts to others.

Very quick to fire individuals for mistakes without giving any reason or coaching opportunities.

Technology seems old and technical support not very responsive.

    Advice to Management

Work on eliminating the micro-management from division managers. Let skilled employees make decisions, but do not hang them out to dry when issues arise. While you seem to believe you are beyond making mistakes, the only way to prepare a future leader is by letting them fail and learning from their mistakes. The need to lead by fear and intimidation shows your true lack of leadership and awareness of what is happening within your divisions.

    -Pay could be better

I worked at Emprise Bank part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good compensation and benefits, ability to advance, and coworkers are generally nice

    Cons

Depending on branch, some duties can be extremely difficult given the clientele, for example, personal bankers in poorer parts are going to have a hard time getting customers into loans, etc. Tellers have to be careful with transactions and be on their toes all the time. Was fired because I cashed a fraudulent check.

I worked at Emprise Bank part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Many of the tellers are amazing at what they do and are always willing to help when asked. M.D. Michaelis (Owner) and Thomas A. Page (President), are great individuals. They have a open door policy and if you have any questions or concerns are always willing to help. They have been known to show up at every branch location and hand out bonuses and to say thank you to each and every employee. The best part is, you can actually tell they truly mean it when they say it.

    Cons

Many of the personal bankers and branch managers have been known to take anything and everything you say out of context. Then later use it against you. You are never allowed to make a mistake or else you will be called into a back room and written up (even if you drawer is .50cents off). The branch managers are responsible for deciding who all gets bonuses and lets the upper management know what they feel is everyone's "fare share" or "contributed effort" is for bonuses. Considering there is only one member of management at each location, if you happen to not be "in" with your boss you are likely to get very little to nothing.

    Advice to Management

If more of management was genuinely kind and actually cared about the people immediately under them like Mr. Michaelis and Mr. Page are the company would be a fantastic place to work.
