I worked at En Masse Entertainment full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Having worked for a few game companies, this one sets a high bar by offering a great environment and great products to work on. Their customer first attitude is truly refreshing and has been maintained my entire time here. It has been a very family like environment, and everyone really cares about their fellow employee.

    Cons

This is still a small company, so there isn't much in the way of training. You have to come in with the right attitude and mindset or you may not like it here. You have a lot of leeway to make mistakes, so the only thing you shouldn't do is to sit and wait.

    Advice to Management

It can be incredibly hard to keep up with everyone that is going on, but making time to hear and to listen to what is going on will help tremendously.

I worked at En Masse Entertainment full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Small tight knit team with solid backing. Not afraid to experiment and try new things. Easy to have your voice not only heard but listened to.

    Cons

Good games and content are hard to find regardless of who you are and you are only as good as the games you publish.

    Advice to Management

Keep on grinding and taking smart chances. Stock back up on awesome hungry talent and find some sleeper games.

Create clear strategies that are effective and clearly measurable.

I worked at En Masse Entertainment full-time

    Pros

The work environment was the best I have ever been fortunate to work in. Everyone is welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Everyone sits at a desk in an open space, free of offices with closed doors.

There were lots of other perks as well, such as fun company parties in summer and around the winter holidays, a kitchen restocked weekly with snacks and drinks, and a great location in the heart of downtown.

    Cons

Reductions in force (layoffs) are an unfortunate event at any company, but as a small operation, it did feel as though En Masse was less equipped to handle short-term bumps in the road without being forced to reduce headcount.

    Advice to Management

My only advice would be to continue expanding the business while also conserving enough capital to be able to get through lean months without needing to let loyal employees go. My belief is that many who have left would be happy to return if given the opportunity, so hopefully that chance will present itself!

I have been working at En Masse Entertainment full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company shares a ton of information with employees.
Great values (service to players first)!
    Fun events.
    Pays well.
    Treats employees well.

    Cons

Too many good coffee shops nearby to choose from. Great view of the Puget Sound but the blinds are always closed.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work - keep hiring good people, have even more fun events, and keep up with the values.

I have been working at En Masse Entertainment full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Smart people in a family environment. Transparent financials. Great location in downtown Seattle with great medical and travel benefits. You are working in the games industry and there are a lot of perks in terms of having fun and playing games at the office. Culture is fun and open - no offices - and a great view of the sound!

    Cons

Games are not created in house which means you can't always control your destiny. Have to be creative in your problem solving to provide great service. Can feel a bit unwieldy at times due to start up culture. Can be fun to be scrappy but also would be nice to have some perks of a bigger company.

I have been working at En Masse Entertainment full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Many opportunities to work on the many different aspects of game publishing.

    Interesting office location and space.

    Cons

The office environment is rife with adverse politicking making it an almost unbearable place to work--inhibiting the company's ability to succeed.

It may appear to be an independent company, but is really owned and operated by foreign investors.

    En Masse Entertainment Response

I worked at En Masse Entertainment full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company has internal room for growth and recognizes potential in employees
Company has a fun work environment
Generally flexible hours and super relaxed

    Cons

Layoffs hit the company in August of 2012 and I was affected. That said, they handled it very graciously and generously and have taken care of everyone hit.
Input from employees doesn't get heard by very many channels.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, talk with them.
Be very open about the status of the company
