I have been working at Encana full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, good work/life balance with 1st and 3rd Fridays off.

    Cons

Truly enjoy this company, nothing bad to say about them.

I worked at Encana full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

For those that raised their hand there was a lot of opportunity for professional growth and benefits (the best was every other Friday off for both corporate and field offices).

    Cons

Unfortunately when it was time for layoffs management forgets those that went the extra mile. Even if they couldn't engineer a way out of a wet paper bag management was ALWAYS safe from cuts and they know it, so you'll have career managers there until they chose to leave. Culture remains the same, rinse repeat.

    Advice to Management

    Eh, not worth it.

I worked at Encana (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Canadian company, so benefits are very good. Always trying to improve.

    Cons

Becuase they are Canadian company, their tends to be a preferential treatment towards Canadian employees. Upper movement outside of the Calgary headquarters can be difficult, especially for those in the US, outside of the Denver location.
    IT leadership is lacking

    I worked at Encana full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, work ethics, and peers!

    Cons

Everythings's a secret. Hard to see what the vision is of leadership.

    Advice to Management

Be more open about plans, and stop random lay-offs of employees. Lay off the employees that don't do their jobs like others.

I worked at Encana full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay is probably lower than the industry but the benefits are above average. First and third Fridays off, generous vacation, and bonuses were normally very generous.

    Cons

Since benefits and bonuses are generous the pay is lower than industry average and raises were not frequent but this also had to do with the downturn in the industry. Because of the work/life balance people are reluctant to leave so there are not many spots available for career advancement.
