I have been working at Encompass Home Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The culture at the denver north branch of Encompass really feels like a family. 30 paid days off and room for internal growth within the company don’t help either. Best job I’ve ever had.

    Cons

Medicare guidelines can be a pain in the rear but that’s not the company’s fault

    Pros

    30 days PDO per year

    Cons

Everything else. No direction. Poor culture. Will not allow people with business degrees advance to management.

    Advice to Management

Ummm...what management? That’s the issue. There is no management that been in their position for more than a year. The regional management team is not helpful. You have no direction. There’s no positive culture from them. They cannot lead by example because they don’t have effective management experience nor clinical skills. They talk about employees behind their backs. Horrible management team. If you max out on your pay, you are forced to leave. Not cool!! Not cool.

I worked at Encompass Home Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The other clinicians you meet and the PDO

    Cons

It didn't start out this way, but over the last year this company has taken a nosedive. You will never be anything but a vessel for numbers to them. "A Better Way to Care" really means "a better way to use our employees so that we look good and make money." Often the clinicians employed by Encompass are top quality but its because they have to hold field staff to high standards in order to cover for the terrible decisions, poor communication, and generally ineffective managment, especially upper managment (administrator and above). This company expects die hard loyalty without ever having to do anything to earn it and the minute you are not needed you will not have hours, sometimes you will no longer have a job. They are big on corporate gaslighting-- they lure you in with promises of career advancment paths that never materialize, they will promise you the moon to get you to do what they need and never deliver, they will ask for your feedback and then retaliate if they dont like what you have to say, they will give you the burden of "not contributing to the problem" while continuing to cause the problems. Their open door policy is a lie and their compliance board is a joke. For field staff, expect to be given patients 40-60 miles apart with no adjustment to your productivity, have schedule changes made without communication (and sometimes after hours), starts of care added at 5pm with no regard to geographical location, and a completely inconsistent caseload with the high possibility of being transferred or laid off when the caseload is low. The staffing will also never match the need because they react too quickly to low census and never fast enough to high census.
