    I worked at Encompass Home Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Encompass is an awesome company to work for. I left because I went back to working with children and encompass in Florida does not offer work with this population yet. The company offers extensive training, great flexibility, time to do paperwork and documentation and great pdo. The branch directors are great as well.

    Cons

    If you're in a large area such as I was, it's hard to schedule without driving a million miles a week. If an eval pops up you have to rearrange your whole schedule and as an SLP I felt more like a trucker some week s Sometimes you're only given a few hours notice which sucks. Health insurance is decent but if you want to add a dependent, encompass does NOT contribute for them so loook forward to paying about 450$ at least to add someone to your health insurance. Also- although pdo is awesome- remember that 3o days also includes holidays :) so really after holidays you have 20 days!

    Advice to Management

    I know it's encompass goal to send people out for Evals right away but it really interferes with our schedules and puts a lot of stress on us:(

    I have been working at Encompass Home Health (More than a year)

    Pros

    There are very few. The pay is decent, but when you see the inner workings it is much less attractive.

    Cons

    No leadership. No communication. People are left to figure things out on their own and when they do they are reprimanded if it is not correct! The offices represent something like a high school atmosphere where gossiping and bullying are the norm. They meed MORE training for their leadership and should spend the money on that versus all the advertising to prove "they care." Invest in YOUR EMPLOYEES! The BEST advertisement are happy employees that will actually exemplify that you care!

    Advice to Management

    See above! STOP focusing on titles of "best place to work" and actually try to make it one!

    Pros

    Well run company that is highly ethical and very supportive of the employees. This innovative company will stay in business and grow while competitors struggle.

    Cons

    Hard to meet documentation requirement of 80% visit documentation done during visits if you want to provide top notch therapy services. Finishing so much documentation at home leads to poor work/home life balance.

    Advice to Management

    Consider streamlining some of the repetitive documentation.

    Pros

    Great off site training for your particular position within the company.

    Cons

    Quota is ridiculous, salary and bonus structure is horrible, not even close to being competitive in the market and management was horrible!! There were two positive leaders there and that was it, the rest had no clue how to manage at all.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees and follow through, it would make them much more successful if you took them seriously instead of worrying about the numbers all the time and never getting back to them. Invest time into them and you may very well get the numbers you are looking for!!

    Pros

    Nice use of email over voicemail. Travel can be less as going to only ALF's. Great field coworkers.

    Cons

    Poor office support and unknowledgeable at times, continuous staffing issues that go unfixed, lower mileage reimbursement, change of health insurance to unknown provider with poor coverage. Office has no problem giving completely unreasonable assignments. Company is based out of Texas and that is clearly the priority, the northeast area seems like an afterthought corporate doesn't care that much about.

    Advice to Management

    Staffing is a major issue. There should be per diem staff! Constantly short staffed which most likely leads to the high turnover (nsg especially) and then the company loses business. Need per diem staff for busy times and then there wouldn't be extra staff for the slow times. Not rocket science...

    PTO but only if they approve you to use it and you can't take it with you when you leave

    Cons

    The senior manager in sales leadership in the southeast is dishonest and bullying. The management at the branch and local division manager is good. We are tired of being put down constantly by senior sales management in the southeast.

    Advice to Management

    Senior sales management in the southeast must be replaced. We are talking but no one in Dallas is listening.

    Pros

    Follows and adheres to CMS guidelines, great training program, strong work ethic. Great speciality clinical therapies.

    Cons

    Sales Team is pitted aganist each other. Ops and Sales are not always united. Too many sales reps per market to allow for financial success.

    Advice to Management

    Down size sales team and distribute more balanced and fair territories. There are too many Area Sales Managers to allow for meeting goals and making bonus's. This would reduce sales turn-over and increase confidence to referrals with consistent sales presence.
