I have been working at Encompass Home Health full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Generous paid time off. Amazing corporate culture. Financially stable. Technologically advanced. Open door policy. Great clinical and educational programs. Strong emphasis on compliance. Most of all- great people!

    Cons

Joining Encompass through an acquisition was a bit bumpy. Getting a company car can be challenging if your census is low.

I worked at Encompass Home Health full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Paid time off is good

    Cons

You have to use paid time off for holiday pay. If you see patients on a holiday you STILL have to have to use paid time off. Office staff is extremely disorganized in local branch, no one calls and checks on hospital hold list, there is no culture, no value place on patient care, I’m currently working my last week as have sought other employment because I can’t stand the disorder after 4 years anymore sadly.

    Pros

The money is pretty good. More paid time off than most.

    Cons

It seems to be like any other home care company. No real work/life balance.

I worked at Encompass Home Health full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good benefits, 1 month Paid Time Off every year, big company (good to put on your resume), flexible hours.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations. Encompass wants you to produce right away, and over time they expect more and more from you. Even when you've done really great for the company, it's what have you done for me lately. Low salary. They try to hire you at the lowest possible market rate.

I worked at Encompass Home Health full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Paid time off - if you can take it. Usually work short staffed and can't take time off. My patients.

    Cons

Company goes by the "point" system and are more concerned about "points/productivity" instead of patient care. Doesn't matter that you might have spent 2 hours in a home straightening out wrong medications. Will take all patients for that almighty dollar - even if proper training has not been accomplished before walking into the home. Most Rn's are salaried so that they don't have to pay overtime. I averaged 50-60 hours a week, traveled great distances between appointments and charted into the evenings. Management and/or scheduler could care less of how much travel time or miles accumulated between appointments. Scheduler played favorites and had a terrible attitude and demeaner and would change schedule after appointments were set with patients the night before. A lot of wear and tear on car. Pay very little reimbursement for gas mileage. No autonomy as an Rn as far as making decisions regarding admissions. Overall, a scary experience. Marketing would promise the moon, sun and stars to the poor doctors just to meet quota and would give patients the wrong idea of what services could actually be provided raising false hopes. My moral and ethical beliefs as a professional were challenged and I had enough.

I worked at Encompass Home Health full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Large amount of paid time off, good field staff who generally care about the patients

    Cons

They promise you the world to get you to accept the position and then deliver nothing. Low-ball salary, forced to work over-time every week and given a hard time if you speak up about not wanting overtime. Forced to drive 100+ miles every day in own car with low reinforcement rate, fail to deliver a car as promised. Management is horrible. They work you to death, do not listen or care about field concerns, and have the thought process "never enough."
