I worked at Encon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good work, life and balance
3 weeks vacation, good benefits with a great pension
    Always busy

    Cons

    No advancement within the company
They don't take care of their staff, they say good hard and play hard and we take care of our staff our Enconities but not really
They down sized but don't really care about the staff who worked hard for the company, very disappointing when you worked hard for the company no rewards but a pay cheque
I did make some great friend relationships while I worked at ENCON.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to staff
Walk to Talk if you say we take care of our employees then do it
Can management too top heavy and they are all friends, which isn't a good thing if your not in the loop

I have been working at Encon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - tenured staff
    - encourage team environment
    - social committee encourage company wide events, new staff welcome, 10 year staff dinners
    - with new changes such as new CEO's all staff are invited to meet and greet
    - very polite in general - people are nice to each other in the hallways which sounds small but really makes a difference everyday when you come into the office
    - although a subsidiary operates like a small business, staff are dedicated to their work and hard working
    - excellent benefits, vacation and pension package

    Cons

    - because of the long tenure of staff there is not a large amount of room for advancement at the higher management levels
    - staff feel the average wages are less than standard but because of the positive work environment people stay (but would prefer to make more)

    Pros

3 weeks vacation from the start in comparison with 2 that some company offer.

    Cons

Be ready to work like a slave or "you do not fit company profile". In 2013 office moved from downtown Toronto to the fields of Mississauga, right to the middle of nowhere. Commute became nightmare. The reason told - need to save on rent. They became obsessed with "savings". And of course the major source - sucking life out of people. Taking to the next level, and going above and beyond never stops. They did not hire enough staff to process the workload and dumped it all on who was still alive.

    Advice to Management

Well...you do not have to pull on that fake corporate smile and hot air enthusiasm. Just make it reasonable for people.

I have been working at Encon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great Social Committee
Flexible office hours and early closing on long weekends
    Great work life balance
Great work enviro for monotonous job function

    Cons

    Absolutely no career growth
    Favoritism
Open Door policy but Management keeps their ears and eyes closed
    Average pay & benefits

    Advice to Management

Appraise Management to gather reviews from their team. Provide more growth opportunities to those willing to perform.

    I worked at Encon full-time

    Pros

Most of the people, those under management level, had very high work ethics. It was a pleasure working with this very dedicated, ambitious & hard working claims team. The company offered excellent benefits.

    Cons

Most of the people at management level more concerned with profit than people. Their teams were stressed from pressure, long hours and unrealistic demands. Ethics appeared to be occasionally overlooked. Top level executives did not appear to be aware of situations affecting the work environment. Pay scales appeared to be lower than industry standards.

    Advice to Management

Top level executives need to scrutinize the behaviour of their management teams and make them accountable for their actions and behaviour.
