I worked at Encore Capital Group full-time

    Pros

Very flexible, good pto, and great co-workers

    Cons

No room for growth and improvements. Higher-up management should listen to their employees to make changes necessary in order for people to stay more than 1 year. The turnaround time is horrible. Don't expect to be here for more than 2y years.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to the employees

I worked at Encore Capital Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company does not pay well, but the work is very easy.

    Cons

They tell debtors they do not sell their stocks but they really do if the debtor does not pay.

    Advice to Management

I understand a business is a business but try to care for some debtors when they genuinely is unable to pay for their debt.

I have been working at Encore Capital Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexibility and good people environment. Tuition reimbursement if taking classes while working.

    Cons

Not a lot of growth opportunities and moving within the company is challenging. No help to those paying back Tuition that came in with degrees. No relocation packages for most moves.

    Advice to Management

Offer more growth oppertunities for your internal employees regardless of there location. Pay what people are worth and get a better pay review system. Listen more to your employees and what it takes to keep them with company.

    Pros

I have been here five months and love it. I never thought I would be in collections. The first month is tough but it gets easier. Great atmosphere and I can't rave about the management enough!!!! Unlimited potential. Time off health care 401k employees that truly help each other

    Cons

Right now none. It is a stressful job

    Advice to Management

    Love all of them!!!

I worked at Encore Capital Group full-time

    Pros

PTO, flexibility, casual dress code, lots of amenities on-site in the Troy office.

    Cons

Pay is below market for most jobs, outdated yearly review system with low annual increases, ineffective leaders, extremely negative environment.

    Advice to Management

Remember that good people leadership starts from the top. A lot of people in upper managment roles are solid managers, but very few are good leaders. Acknowledge that the PACE system is outdated and demotivating.

    Pros

They will pay to get you qualified to work the position. Great entry level position. If you're just starting to get into the 9-5 routine this is a good spot to start.

    Cons

Call center work environment. Open cubes with team leads aka babysitters able to watch your every more. Due to the lay out it feels like someone is looking over your shoulder constantly. Especially if your desk is in the middle of the large warehouse like room. Definitely a favoritism work environment. If you don't click and kiss butt with every single person don't hold your breath to climb the latter. Also "Legal Specialist" means that you are approving paperwork that gets sent on within court documents to SERVE people in order to SUE them for debt collection. I.E. your name is all up in the paperwork so these people can seek you out. The company really doesn't explain that to you or their affiant team, ever. Either some people completely don't understand that or they simply do not care. Mass production of these type of documents in a very hush hush-in terms of business product and reality assessment-type business is slightly concerning.

    Advice to Management

Get and HR rep in the building ASAP. Training is horribly disorganized due to the lack of at least one person able to devote their time to having a proper training schedule and to act as a resource for training and staff questions that would be better handled by someone not so much concerned with your "production value".
