    Pros

Free coffee an soda if that excites you

    Cons

Most(not all) lack any moral compass whatsoever

    Advice to Management

Sweat shop in the 21st century. Consultants are treated worse than second class citizens. Full time employees treated marginally better compared to the consultants. Does not matter how productive you may be, it is a slave and master environment. If you ever dare to refuse politely something outrageous, seen as insubordination. Not encountered more unprofessional and disrespectful behavior in a career spanning two decades, strangely from senior management employees. Too much politicking and back biting. You could be the worst at your job and may be goofing up day after day, but you will survive if you can kiss the business's backside. Trust me, I can give you names in PMO who make a living just that way. Ironically, the higher management lacks the basic skills and understanding of the ground level tasks. Short-sighted planning, lack basic understanding of process. PMO is a joke and farce, theyre just trying to make it to the last few years to retirement. Will micromanage you to death despite their own incompetence. Senior IT management promises business without even consulting people who do the real work. The most talented are unfortunately not making the decisions, rather are merely following instructions. Don't believe me? Ask anyone who works in IT. Would give a negative, not 1/5 if it were possible. Need names, could provide those as well. Worked in numerous environments, would not work here ever, even if it were the last company that survived.

    Pros

Some perks e.g. unlimited coffee, snacks etc..

    Cons

Highly dysfunctional management. Management seem to all have come from big consulting firms and in some sense act accordingly. Never got the sense of management long-term investment for strategic growth for the firm. Poor communication and highly siloed environment.

    Advice to Management

Treat the firm as if it were your own business.

I worked at Endurance Specialty (More than a year)

    Pros

Company perks, outings, vacations days, nice office

    Cons

Overworked without a raise, upper management doesn't acknowledge your hard work. You don't have a voice or an opinion. When you are proactive it falls on deaf ears. Your review will be based on PTO days instead of all the hard work and support you provide for the team.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to communicate effectively with your employees. Stop blaming everything on the underwriting assistants, the underwriters should be held accountable for their mistakes. Appreciate the hard work and effort your assistants do to help reach monthly goals. Ask your assistants if they are interested in becoming underwriters instead of overlooking them. Treat them as you would want to be treated.

    "Horrible environment."

    Pros

The benefits were good. Perks, such as snacks and soda were nice. Which will not probably last to long because they definitely do not value their employees well being.

    Cons

Where to start, turnover, closing of offices and finger pointing. Probably worst experience in my career. Too much turmoil to speak of.

    Advice to Management

I would say value your employees more but I am sure that was already
    said and they didn't listen.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

    Good technology, great learning opportunity

    Cons

Worst QA manager, has no decision making capability.
Six people interviewed a QA lead (automation) candidate for contractor to hire role. 5 QA leads liked very much and 1 sr developer did not like. They decided not to try the guy for the QA lead role. QA manager has no confidence and incapable to make decision.

    Advice to Management

Put more sensible person as manager. The people working at lower levels are good at their work but the lead have no leadership capability. Has no analytic or problem solving skill.

I worked at Endurance Specialty full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits: salary at par, 401k match, medical , discounts on company shares purchase etc...

    Cons

Incompetent mid level leadership. Bullying by senior management
    Poor planning and decision making.
You work 50 to 60 hours a week with no extra pay but your manager gets promotion and big bonus.

    Advice to Management

Talk to employees.Recognize most of the individuals left on there own.

    Pros

Now - Good benefits (ie. 401k, medical, etc.)

3+ years ago (prior to existing management)
    Clearly defined goals and objectives
    Very strong and knowledgeable team
Minimal downtime, so we were able to focus on the fun things like implementing new functionality and features for applications, etc.
    Great exposure to new technologies
    Cutting edge
Good partnerships with many reputable vendors

    Cons

    Bullying by senior management
    Incompetent leadership
Lack of technical knowledge which led to poor decision making
    Poor planning

Managers all have history together. It was a good ole boys club. Everyone in a lead role was someones friend, previous co-worker, neighbor, mechanic, gardener, etc.

    Advice to Management

Review the exit interviews over the last few years and I am sure you will notice a common theme. Also, recognize most of the individuals left on there own, some right before their bonuses.... yes, it was that bad! All the hardwork done in the past has gone up in flames... This company had the potential to be alot more than it is today unfortunately.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

location in Bermuda is nice to travel to. Travel policy is more than fair.

    Cons

Company is more worried about having everything written in emails instead of just getting the job done. Most employee attitudes seem to trickle down from management.

    Advice to Management

Stop with all the emails. Listen to your lower level employees and take responsibility when issues arise. Your employee morale is down whether you realize it or not.
