I worked at Enesco full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Commission rate, reasonable draw, D56 product line.

    Cons

Senior Management is clueless, they spend too much time micromanaging instead providing the necessary tools for product sales.

    Advice to Management

Senior management should focus on the big picture like National promotions, sales strategies, incentives.

I worked at Enesco full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Co-workers. Some executive management was excellent and communicated well with employees

    Cons

Enesco was recently sold and experienced quarterly lay offs.

    Advice to Management

New owners don't know gift business. People left are greatly over-worked and have little confidence left in the company.

    Pros

Working on your own, if you are a self starter this is the job for you.

    Cons

Too many management changes and downsizing.

    Advice to Management

This company has been sold many times and the owners have no Idea what they are doing to increase sales they only care about the bottom line and not the people who creat it.

    Pros

Good people, some of the nicest I have ever worked with. Decent products with name brands consumers recognize. Summer Fridays off.

    Cons

New ownership has no clue what they are doing. It is one big hatchet job. Soon there will be a handlful of employees left doing the work of all. I have never seen so many layoffs at one organization. Senior management keeps making more money while the few employees not fired are doing the work of many without getting paid more than they were. There are too many good companies out there to waste your time pursuing this one.

    Advice to Management

    Get a clue

"Used to be awesome. The days of the enesco family are long over."

    Pros

Coffee, filter water. 9 paid holidays a year, understanding and flexible with vacation and personal time off. Relaxed business casual dress and jeans on Friday, summer hours, most employees are great to work with, they will train you in positions so that's a plus.

    Cons

The company has been sold from one investor to another and will be sold again. The belief is to cut every expense to show profitability for future sale. Over the years 401k match dropping from 100% match to 25%. Insurance coverage cost is horrible. Salary freezes or 1% , which never cover the increase of insurance premiums. All employees are on one floor in a 3 floor building and cubicles crammed everywhere.

    Advice to Management

I know you want to make a buck and keep a buck. Find ways to give us things that make us feel good. Jeans everyday. Summer hours all year. Carry over vacation or sick time. 30 minutes for lunch for shorter work day like some departments..

    I worked at Enesco full-time

    Pros

Great office culture. Was able to gain experience in working with many different product formats, different art styles and different licensors.

    Cons

Change in management resulted in many lay-offs. This caused a huge change in the office culture and office morale.

    Advice to Management

Make sure to let your employees know that they are very much appreciated. Everyone works hard to make sure that the product lines do well.

    Pros

Some of the most caring co-workers I've ever had. The best direct manager I've ever worked with. Free products from time to time. Great way to express your creative side. Everyone works as a team.

    Cons

Unfortunately the company is not financially stable. Over the years, they have had frequent changes in management. The company is frequently sold and bought by CEOs with no experience in giftware. They have recently laid off 15 employees, the majority had worked with the company for 15 years or more.

I have been working at Enesco full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People work hard and care about product quality. The company owns licenses to some brands with high potential. There is potential growth in B2C eCommerce, however the current management team and eCommerce platform not in place to take advantage of exponential growth.

    Cons

Company still has same management team, processes and marketing investment based on a 90's business model. There is zero advertising budget to promote consumer online growth, and leaders are homegrown with no outside expertise. Also, gift retailers (their largest customer segment) has been declining for years.

    Advice to Management

Expand communication beyond the VP level because the messages are not being delivered. Get to know the expertise and ideas from lower level employees who have experience outside of the company. Invest a significant budget for B2C growth, and replace eCommerce leadership with an outsider with a proven track record for growth.
