I have been working at Englewood Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Started at Englewood as a PCA in nursing school. It was super helpful in gaining skills utilized in nursing school and provided me with opportunities I never experienced at clinical. The nurses are exceptionally experienced and supportive. They really want to help you learn. Management is incredibly supportive and really care about staff, patients and family. Speciality units are beginning to slowly allow new grads to be considered as well as the salary is very competitive for new grad RNs compared to local medical centers. The nursing care is exceptional as well as the healthcare teams. Great teamwork in providing patient care. This is a place you will remain in for your entire career, it’s that incredible

    Cons

Specialty units (MSICU, ED, NICU) do not consider new grads at this time. Most of the floors (except for a few that are 12) are 8 hours. Understaffed for PCAs

    Advice to Management

Hopefully in the future new grads will be able to be considered for more speciality units, New Grad Residency programs, Student Nurse Externships for student nurses

    Cons

    Outdated hardware and unit accommodations.

    Advice to Management

Rotating and overlapping shifts for social workers would be helpful.

I have been working at Englewood Health part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Clean and pretty renovated hospital. Nice staff and nurses.
I actually work PER DIEM which is great for any students (nursing student). I am a float PCA as well and the nursing office workers are very polite and friendly. I am suppose to work 3 shifts a month and a few times that did not happen due to school but they never said anything. However when i can i work so there are months I'm working at least once a week.

    Cons

PAY : i got hired at englewood after an interview at an open house that i found out about from my nursing school. They hired me on the spot and after told me my salary of $12.50 for morning shift .. 14 for for evening and 15 for night plus an addition of $1 on evenings. I have NEVER seen such low pay for a PCA. I work at another hospital that pays 18 and all of my friends who are nursing assistants as well get paid at least $16 an hour. Such a joke. -- they did just increase pay to $14 morning shift which to me that is still very low for a nursing assistant!

Nursing office: since I'm per diem and a float i make my own schedule on when i can work. The nursing office staff are really sweet but beware they will call you EVERYDAY. There were days where i got called twice too after i told them i could not come in. I do understand it is there job to call (since they told me).

RN hours: I had just graduated nursing school and another set back to me applying for RN position is the 8 hour shifts. Most floors at EHMC are 8 hours , few are 12. As a nurse i know i would only want a 12 hour shift.

    Advice to Management

More 12 hours shifts available and increase salary wage!

I have been working at Englewood Health part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Helpful, friendly, positive, hard-working staff on all levels. Even the patients comment on how wonderful staff has been during their treatments at the infusion center, or during their stays on different units.

    Cons

I do not have any cons in mind at this time, other than if you don’t want to work hard, or keep a friendly, helpful demeanor, you need not apply!

    Advice to Management

Continue to do what you are doing. We, as employees, appreciate that you take time to listen to our ideas and take them into consideration.
