I have been working at Entegris full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Entegris is a really strong company that is regarded the best in the business. Had a fantastic 2016 represented by the soaring stock price. More than 50% of people working in my plant have been here all their life. A majority of employees work here till they retire, showing excellent growth, benefits and job security. All major semiconductor giants are customers of Entegris. Teams work very closely and there's a general atmosphere of positivity when working for Entegris.

    Cons

People are occasionally resistant to change because they have been used to following a certain procedure for so long. There is surely a gap of communication between upper management and the rest of the employees. Departments tend to do what's best for them instead of what's best for the company.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent to your workforce since they are the reason the company is where it is today. Work towards overall company goals instead of your personal department goals that would make only you look good

I have been working at Entegris full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits were great, now they are just good/ok; still better than a lot of companies. Dress code is business casual and jeans can be worn on Fridays. Many employees are long-term, friendly and helpful. Upgraded systems: SAP, Business Objects, Microsoft Office 365, etc. Location is nice, easy commute in SW suburbs, close to bike paths or bus line if you don't drive or like to walk at noon.

    Cons

Constant acquisitions, mergers and restructures. Sr. Mgmt has been so focused on becoming a "global leader" and on margins that they've forgotten about what once made this company great; the people and the products. Every time we restructure, whether it be in Corporate, Sales, Engineering or the Plant, it's usually the 20 - 30 year people that are eliminated, along with all their product & systems knowledge, expertise, and loyalty. Morale declines company-wide, and those that remain have to pick up the slack making their work/home life balance suffers even more.

Sr. Mgmt preach Corporate Values, business partnering, collaboration, coaching, etc. but then company-wide they pass over the talented and respected Mgr's, and promote (or hire from the outside) Mgr's who are arrogant, unfeeling and sarcastic, because "they'll be able to make the tough decisions". They also make your dedicated employees want to leave and go somewhere where they will be appreciated and respected.

Minimal opportunities for career growth in Entegris Finance/Accounting. Sr. Mgmt, Directors and several Mgr's have been here for many years and are not leaving anytime soon.

Most employees live outside of the metro area where it's cheaper to live so they will accept lower wages, therefore Entegris' salaries are slightly lower than the average Twin Cities Mfg company.

    Advice to Management

Bring back system training in a classroom setting for everyone, not just Super Users. Tuition reimbursement needs to be increased. Invest in your people; train them, promote from within & retain your talent. Why is M.L still here, and a Dir no less, she is clueless. The only thing she seems capable of doing is traveling & partying on your dime and posting pics on FB... Add more Mgmt training to LMS for Mgr's & Dirs and/or bring in trainers at least once a year. Some people could use it more often due to their poor people & communication skills (JB).

    Pros

Above market compensation. Hard working employees.

    Cons

Micromanagement of employees, no life/work balance. Terminated under the guise of eliminating position to avoid discriminatory practice. Routinely tried to mask that staffing decisions and elimination based on age. Put your family first and not the plant and you will not be successful.

    Advice to Management

Allow better work/life balance. Develop longer range vision for the organization, do not react to industry fluctuations by eliminating positions.

    Pros

Compensation and benefits are above average.

    Cons

PTO can't be negotiated because it's not defined or "centrally tracked". The reality is much like any other company that keeps track of your PTO - they just take away your ability to negotiate it. Boss was very competent, but didn't communicate or manage people very well.

I have been working at Entegris full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

New CEO communicates really well about what is going on in the company and makes sure everyone gets his ideas for the future growth of the company.
As a company Entegris is growing and exploring other niche markets bringing with them expertise in semiconductor handling to open new doors for businesses.
Good benefits and best thing is unlimited PTO. Of Course no company is going to let you take 8 months of vacation unless you are really worth it but it is good to have an option in case if u need it.
    Compensation is above industry average.

    Cons

Needs more communication within the teams and cross department. Also needed is a good employee enrichment program to provide training and tuition reimbursement.

    Advice to Management

Please have a part of budget dedicated to employee training and education assistance it will only help.

I worked at Entegris full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Overall - good culture, intelligent co workers, commitment to quality.

    Cons

lots of sales and product manager lifers that work only to protect their turf and commission/compensation. developing new products for new markets is very difficult and often considered as a threat to existing products.
Upper mgmt is too beholden to quarterly earnings - strategy and vision is limited to small moves in semi market and limited to acquisitions - any other type of growth is limited as the company's inertia is heavy to change

    Advice to Management

create a career development path for employees to work from operations to product mgmt to sales.

    Pros

Global company. Decent size for Global market. Typically #1 or 2 in their markets served.

    Cons

Customers are typically VERY large and put great pressure on organization. Ties mostly to semiconductor market that can have huge highs and extreme lows.

I worked at Entegris full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good location. Mostly good, loyal, long-term employees. Decent benefits. Worker-bee culture.

    Cons

Change and progression will never happen for Entegris because employees refuse it. No recognition for job well done. Managers micro-manage and clock-watch...don't ever think no one is watching your coming and going because they are. Intimidation and public humiliation are used daily thinking that's how results are best gotten. No trust or respect for workers. Open vacation policy is a joke - all that means is HR doesn't track it but managers do and that is worse. My advice...run away....do not work here. It is horrible.

    Advice to Management

Management needs an overhaul. The rules need to be the same for everyone, not only apply to the favorites or the lifers. Engineering is the only department with decent, sensible, realistic people in it. Expectations of employees are unfair and unrealistic.

    Pros

Entegris has many great employees who work hard and care about their jobs.

    Key player in semiconductor industry
    Unique technologies
    Great people

    Cons

I was hired to use my skill set to advance the maturity of existing process and protocols. Opportunities to do this were not given and neither I or my supervisor were unable to create them.

    No common vision
    Little leadership
No consideration to resources or workload
    No career path of individuals

    Pros

Very good people to work with.

    Cons

I was an excellent employee but just a "temp". I had little chance of being hired as permanent.
They hire(d) many temps to get them through the busy periods.

    Advice to Management

Respect and hire on the good workers.
