I have been working at Entegris full-time

    Pros

Pay is adequate, as are benefits, but only for professional positions. New technology shows some real promise in terms of industry application.

    Cons

Stunningly bad local management. It is virtually impossible to get anything done in a reasonable time frame due to the continuous bickering between the Business Units & Manufacturing. The fact that each side points to the other as the root cause of it all only exacerbates the issue. My own supervisor is dictatorial, incompetent, & refuses to listen anything approaching subordinate input. Come to think of it, maybe he's just incapable. Shoestring approach to funding creates its own set of challenges, especially in areas of operations & technicians. Just a heart-breaking mess.

    Advice to Management

Take a long, hard look in the mirror when you ask where the problems lie.

I have been working at Entegris full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Talented and knowledgeable employees, positive working environment, supportive team members and forward thinking. Flexible working schedule, unlimited time off, encouraged to work on projects and focus on process improvement. Senior staff is very friendly and seems to listen to feedback. Employees who have worked here for a long time (10+ years) seem to be very happy and have no desire to leave!

    Cons

Not all groups support working from home or flexible schedules, offices could use some updates, still a cubicle environment which doesn't facilitate much collaboration unless it's required, not much team building as a company, no cafeteria.

    Advice to Management

Focus on hiring new, young talent, with fresh perspectives. Look into what other companies are doing to keep morale up and encourage company excitement. Really simple things can keep employees happy and engaged (food trucks once a month, fun and friendly team competitions, summer picnics, etc.)

I have been working at Entegris full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great technology, opportunities to tackle significant leading edge technology challenges, Division leadership is strong. Good cash generation, company likes to grow by acquiring. International foot print. leadership position in leading edge technology.

    Cons

SEMI market cycles, Executive leadership too finance heavy, old white guys in Boston making too many decisions. Management by fear. Zero based budgeting. HR policies that seem to be stuck in the 1970's

Perfect example of the culture the current executive team supports; weeks after achieving record revenue and earnings for Q417 quarter and fiscal year 2017, CFO and COO celebrate achievements by threatening to take away all business class travel. Keep in mind that current policy, for non executives, is you can fly business class AFTER the 2nd trip of greater than 8 hour flight time and only in segment that is greater than 8 hours. Meanwhile, the executives have a separate travel policy.

Other examples; frequent cost cutting that results in continued elimination of employee benefits, such as vacation accrual, regular answer to finance challenges is to reduce head count. Investing in employee development... very limited.

My experience also included having executives intervene in hiring decisions at manager level to support their individual agendas.

My opinion is that division leadership has hands tied with low factory utilization rate and unable to eliminate excess capacity. Afraid to take risk in fear of losing job.

Low morale that is still heading in a negative direction.

    Advice to Management

diversify executive leadership with people willing to take risks and understand how to manage in todays business environment. get rid of financial model and let divisions do what they know how to do. Get rid of excess capacity and support investment in your employees.

    Address the low morale problem!

I have been working at Entegris full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Entegris is a really strong company that is regarded the best in the business. Had a fantastic 2016 represented by the soaring stock price. More than 50% of people working in my plant have been here all their life. A majority of employees work here till they retire, showing excellent growth, benefits and job security. All major semiconductor giants are customers of Entegris. Teams work very closely and there's a general atmosphere of positivity when working for Entegris.

    Cons

People are occasionally resistant to change because they have been used to following a certain procedure for so long. There is surely a gap of communication between upper management and the rest of the employees. Departments tend to do what's best for them instead of what's best for the company.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent to your workforce since they are the reason the company is where it is today. Work towards overall company goals instead of your personal department goals that would make only you look good
