I have been working at Entergy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The job has flexible hours wjich provides a great schedule. The pay is good because of mileage and annual bonuses.

    Cons

There is an internal problem with operations. You will manage e every job from beginning to end. The job is not for those who are not go-getters.

    Advice to Management

Please fix the operational problems. Employees will continue to leave if there is no accountability.

I worked at Entergy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Unique field, interesting assignments, Great support from employees in your role at other plants. Secure work site.

    Cons

Politics, cliques, no support from your supervision, invasive intrusion into your personal life, management that can't do your job, but can tell you how to do it. Corporate motto is "The Power of People" should be "Power on the Backs of its People"

    Advice to Management

This is not the 1950s Navy. Most employees don't want to pretend they are in the the Navy. Either learn how to lead in the 21st century or retire. Don't give lip-service to diversity or quality of life when you really just want lemmings to do your bidding.

I have been working at Entergy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Nice schedule, love the team members I interact with on a daily basis

    Cons

Uncertainty in the future of the company; revolving door of new hires; raises/promotions are not based on merit, but who you know to open a position for you; Inadequately trained supervisors; upper management has no clue about their employees, nor shown any interest in getting to know them; lack of communication from upper management & Supervisors with their employees; unprofessional supervisors who lack leadership skills and initiative; little opportunity for growth; IT help desk is now horrible after being outsourced

    Advice to Management

Take the time to actually get to know your current employees and the tasks they perform daily; Have adequate and thorough training for new hires as well as refresher training for current employees, including CSS/Supervisor/CSM, etc; Show your employees that you appreciate the work that's done and promoting those who are actually qualified, as opposed to length of service only; There are some outstanding employees in the company, that are being overlooked; Implement job shadowing program; I'd be surprised to see Entergy still operating 10 years from now, due to so much outsourcing- just remember: you get what you pay for and sometimes cheaper does not mean better.

I have been working at Entergy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

NONE- Keep out of this LOSER COMPANY!

    Cons

LEO Denault the CEO has eliminated pensions for new employees, increased retiree MEDICAL preiums by 100%, closed Plants and lined his own pockets with huge bonuses, salary and benefits. After all- he has KIDS that need to go to IVY LEAGUE COLLEGES and become CEOs! Raises are non existent for individual contributors. Bonus was cut in half by Bill MOHL and the board. Yet they are giving tens on millions to States and other utilities in profits to buy silence and better relations. LEO's Motto- I GOT MINE- SCREW YOU!
Morale has never been lower and Leo Denault will destroy Entergy but enrich himself!

    Advice to Management

FIRE LEO. Try to restore morale and quit lining the pockets of CEOs and executives! Leo admitted that he is just another FLUNKY BEANCOUNTER! WAY TOO MANY MEETINGS AND VPS ,DIRECTORS AND SR MANGERS who add NO Value and DO NOTHING!

THIS CAN BE an opportunity to restore Entergy to more productivity and profitability!

    Pros

I cannot think of any pros at the moment. Some employees have tremendous growth opportunities, but that is only if you are great at playing the office politics game.

    Cons

There are too many to list. But mainly the uncertainty of the organization, The employees are not sure if the company will be around much longer. The morale of the organization is at an all time low. The turnover in the HR department is soaring which is causing stress and triple workload for remaining employees. Bad leadership and line management is all over the company. Employees have no rights.

    Advice to Management

Train your managers to know how to manage people along with the processes that they manage.

    Pros

Management is a bunch of snakes in the grass. Upper management does not care or want to hear about problems, they just stick your fingers in their ears and say "la la la". You do get alternating Fridays off, but BEWARE DO NOT TAKE THEM OFF!!!! This is a test to see if you are committed. If you take your Friday's off, management will not like you.

    Cons

Only single people without children and a life will excel and be able to move up. If you have a family, be prepared to get a divorce like most managers and directors at this company.

    Advice to Management

They didn't listen when I was there, why would they listen now. The HCM project that you just went through and laid off over 1,000 people was nothing but a vote for idiot managers to select their friends. Good luck with this decision in 5-7 years when you have to pay over millions of dollars to consultants to fix the mess you made!!!!

I have been working at Entergy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Used to be a great comapny to work for.

    Cons

Cannot trust current leadership. HCM killed the value of the employee.
Expect the company will not exist in 5 years.
Company survey was conducted at the end of 2013, and the comapny administering the survey stated that they have never seen such low scores. Will take years for the company to recover (if at all). Great job in destroying a company !!

    Advice to Management

Please listen to your staff and your regulators. At the end of 2013, the INPO CEO stated that the nuclear industry fears that Entergy nuclear will cause the next Fukashima accident.

    Pros

    Money, benefits, plant cleanliness, safety.

    Cons

Good old boy network is very prevalent. Good people are overworked, slackers get free ride.

    Advice to Management

Give all employees lie detector test and ask how they got their job and are they related by blood or marriage to any other employees. Nepotism can kill incentive among employees that are not in the good nold boy network.
