I have been working at Entergy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Competitive salaries, reasonable expectations from leaders and a company that is trying to understand its organizational health and made positive changes

    Cons

Changes are too slow to happen -- especially in the nuclear division -- and the inertia threatens the prospect of any real positive change ever occurring.

    Advice to Management

Need to get the nuclear ops side of the business in order or it will threaten the broader company objectives and drag down the stock performance. Change must happen quicker.

    Pros

Good field to work in but Entergy leaving Northeast so job are being eliminated. Potential jobs down South but many applicants from North will be looking for them.

    Cons

Entergy leaving northeast so jobs in north are for very limited time and you my not be able to transfer to the south because of seniority .

I worked at Entergy (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, decent pay, company is pretty socially conscience and is locally involved.

    Cons

Oppressive rules and career job "squatters" make working here difficult and unpleasant. Some employees great but so bureaucratic as to be suffocating.

    Advice to Management

Way, way too rigid for the 21st century job market. Get rid of people who are roadblocks to others.

I have been working at Entergy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, good hours, every other Friday off, nice people overall, OCE that seems to want to grow the company, decent benefits, decent bonus structure, long time employees are always available to help and most are willing to help teach newer employees the history and why things are done a certain way

    Cons

Not much, if any, chance to move up, no replacement of outgoing staffers but job duties distributed to remaining staff, lots of talk of career development but no action, managers who failed up, seriously behind in technology and communications tools

    Advice to Management

Back up the career development talk with promotions. Listen to your teams since they're the ones doing the work. Promote on merit, not due to personal preference. Get rid of the yearly review process and goals. They're crap.

I worked at Entergy as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good company, good benefits after hire

    Cons

CSOC Manager tolerated and fostered a high degree of competitiveness among team members. Did nothing to dispel rumors that 12 were hired and not all would be kept. Allowed one particular person to bully a team member and bad mouth them to the team.

    Advice to Management

This is not the Army and peoples lives and livelihoods are at risk from the toxic team environment.

    Pros

Overtime. steady work. Willing to work with your schedule if you have been there a while.

    Cons

Poor management. Unorganized. No raise. Pay goes down regarding to pay scale.

    Advice to Management

Hire management within. Do proper training before you decided to send people home to work

    Pros

Good work/home life balance, good salary and benefits. Great opportunities for communicators to use expertise, learn and grow.

    Cons

The quality of your experience working for this company depends on the department you're in and the management in place. What started as a great place to work in the early 2000s turned into a beaurocratic nightmare as the company hit financial and industry challenges around 2011. Good managers became fearful and morale plummeted. As with most jobs, your happiness is equal to the quality of your managers. If you can handle the roller coaster effect of working for a corporation for many years, you'll do alright.

I have been working at Entergy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very high quality of people in the operations department. The pay is very good for this part of Arkansas.Job is challenging and you have to constantly learn.

    Cons

There's a myth of only working 18 days a month, reality is we stay minimum manned so there is a lot of extra days worked, many of them you are forced to cover. The only way to guarantee time off is to take vacation. Job is overly stressful at times. Training every five weeks and the administrative burden are the worst parts of the job.

    Advice to Management

Let your operators be operators again. We have lost our vision on this. More oversight equals more stress equals more errors then we rake people over the coals and act like there's no way we would have made the same mistake.

I worked at Entergy as an intern

    Pros

The people here are great, they treat you well, give you free lunch, there's a lunch area in the plant so you don't have to go else where for lunch

    Cons

The hours were long, the commute was very far as it was a power plant that needed to be near the river.
