I worked at Enterprise Florida full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Travel within and outside of the state, professional development and training opportunities, and a team of people who care about what they do.

    Cons

Pay isn't always competitive, but the benefits, PTO, vacation days and fulfillment of your job make up for it!

    Advice to Management

When they are able they offer promotions and raises based on annual reviews.

I worked at Enterprise Florida full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Some very good people, but many have left due to organizational uncertainty. Very good benefits, but pay is below market.

    Cons

A shell of its former self. Those left behind to lead are the wrong people in the wrong positions. A non-political organization decimated by politics.

I have been working at Enterprise Florida full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Coworkers are mostly good to work with. The subject matter is important and the experience gained from working there is invaluable. Benefits are good.

    Cons

Way understaffed, way underpaid and way too much political influence. Multiple people left or lost their jobs because of the organization's (leadership's) decision to go off mission. The rate of turnover has increased and they expect the already-overworked-employees to take on more responsibilities instead of hiring replacements. The staff works hard but they're overwhelmed, and the organization would benefit from hiring...

    Advice to Management

Get rid of those who aren't aren't qualified and hire more worker bees so everyone is happy. Don't let politics go beyond government relations and stand up for your employees and mission - You're representing more than yourself and the agency.

I have been working at Enterprise Florida for more than 6 years

    Pros

Excellent state economic development organization. Rated #1 in the U.S. and copied by other organizations worldwide. The international trade development unit has received the E Star for export promotion excellence. All of the organization's staff perform exceedingly well, very professional, quite talented and hard working.

    Cons

State politics often effects the organization. Makes it difficult to stay on mission at times.

I have been working at Enterprise Florida for more than a year

    Pros

Coworkers, Growth of Company, Type of work

    Cons

Company moves very slow on projects. Higher positions are given to people outside of the company instead of within.

I worked at Enterprise Florida full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Great benefits and people in this organization. Just about everybody is hard-working and dedicated to the mission of bringing good jobs to the state.

    Cons

The original intent of separating the state politics from economic development has been lost. Forget the idea that you are working in an independent public private partnership. This is basically a state agency serving whoever is in power and being the target of whoever is not.

I worked at Enterprise Florida full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Good objective in creating higher paid jobs for the state. Everybody was on board with that. Nice employees overall.

    Cons

Top management out of touch with staff, know it and don't care. Have their own agenda. Employee favortism and threatning culture. Not a team environment among management; silos. CEO unseen and weak leader. High turnover. People know it's not a place to stay at.

    Advice to Management

Get some leadership and sensitivity training or scram. You need to operate like a real corporation or a well run state agency.

I have been working at Enterprise Florida full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

good staff and nice working environment. workers here are committed to building the economy and most are very professional. they work well among themselves.

    Cons

bad top level management. not even trying to be a team. Top-down, command-control style. management has little business leadership experience and it shows. Not worker-friendly or committed to state. In it for themselves. Culture here is shot. Silos because top managers don't have it together as a team. Leads don't follow policy, procedures and guidelines they change them to suit whatever situation they're in....
