I worked at Epes Transport full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company with a solid culture. Took me on with no experience and trained me from the ground up.

    Cons

High conflict job, but it is the nature of the business. Not a ton of room for growth or advancement because of the size of the company.

    Advice to Management

More consistent performance reviews and ongoing training once the initial onboarding has concluded.

    Pros

Epes always takes care of my loads +miles+ home time as we agreed 9 yrs ago...pay has been good even once we got cut from 72 mph back to 65 mph and then got electronic logs..the equipment has been excellent...Epes been the Best OTR company I've worked for since I started driving in 1978...if you are not getting the miles you want here at EPES...my guess is ..theres something wrong with you or your on time performance or your driving recored or safety rating...But I only worry about my situation for my family...if a driver is not happy him / her needs go find that perfect job that make them happy...no need to HANG AROUND...WE all as Drivers KNOW what OTR DRIVING is All about long before we took this job...its not for Cry Babies or Mama Boys... Yes..ITS A FREAKING HARD JOB 24/7/365..at least since from 1974 to today Jan 18,2017...I applaud the fine Men + Women who do this job every day to SUPPORT their families...

    Cons

OTR DRIVING IS A CRAPPY JOB..LONG hOURS...AWAY FROM HOME +FAMILY LONG PERIODS OF TIME..TERRIBLE TRAFFIC...TERRIBLE WEATHER...HIGH STRESS LEVERL...DANGEROUS JOB...With that said...All drivers Know Up front What They Getting Into When They Take The OTR Job...SO Don't PLAY DUMB..You ask for the job...lol..lol..

    Advice to Management

EPES MANAGEMENT TEAM...PLEASE CONTINUE WORKING HARD AND BE FORWARD THINKING TO KEEP UP WITH OUR CUSTOMERS NEEDS..

I worked at Epes Transport full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Honest company that does what it says & and treats employees well. No cameras yet. Trustworthy company that keeps its promises. I was treated well, and have no complaints other than an incomparable trainer.

    Cons

Average pay for the Industry, very long training program, 6 weeks in length. No clear explanation of home time during training

    Advice to Management

Inform new drives about details of the training program. Work hard to match student with a comparable trainer. Insure employees have scheduled home time while in training, new drivers need. Time to adjust.

    Pros

Flexible people to work for, very straightforward when it comes to expectations and responsibilities.

    Cons

Lack of employee appreciation. Some drivers don't give a dang about coworkers and or equipment. Management fails at times when it needs to apply rules to everybody in other words some people are management's favorites.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your employees hardwork. Sometimes is not about money, you can just send a text,Qualcomm or call saying THANK YOY VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HARDWORK,IT HASN'T BEEN GONE UNOTICED.
